To Hell and Back Again...

Have you ever felt like you've been through Hell?

Well I sure have, just this past January in fact.

And I would jump at the chance to go back. It was as much as I expected... hot, lots of rocks, and a little post office.

Right about now, you're thinking to yourself, wait...what in the world is this writer talking about, right?

Well, what I just wrote happens to be true! And you can go visit Hell for yourself for the price of one airplane ticket to the Cayman Islands.

Name a town Hell? Clever...but why?

You can find different stories as to how Hell got it's name, depending on who you ask.

However, the most prevalent answer seems to be that Hell got it's name from the dark, eerie rock formations in the surrounding area.

Visitors cannot walk out on the spiky, lava-looking limestone formations, but a viewing platform provides a great view of the area, as well as some funny photo opportunities.

There, on the island of Grand Cayman, you will find the very small town of Hell, Grand Cayman, complete with a gift shop, photo opportunities, and yes, even a post office.

Who wouldn't want to send their loved ones a message from Hell?

What to do when you're in Hell

Document your trip of course!

The first thing you want to do when you're in Hell, is to make sure you get in lots of photos.

After all, when you say that you've been to Hell, you're going to want proof.

Hell provides lots of photo opportunities for visitors from up on the viewing platform.

Visitors can also get their photo taken with Satan if you catch him while he's there.

After you have gotten your photo fill of Hell, pop into the gift shop where you'll be able to find t-shirts, mugs, and any other typical tourist souvenirs.

Don't forget to pick up and mail a few postcards from Hell while you're there.

Why go to Hell?

  • It won't take your entire day to see. You and your party won't need any more than an hour to see everything in Hell
  • Great photo opportunities
  • And the best part, it's free :)

I've been to the Caymans a few times but haven't taken the time to go to Hell yet. I will definately check it out next time, it sounds like fun.

Agusfanani - Ya, I'm pretty sure that in a place a beautiful as the Cayman Islands, there can be no Hell :)

Cloverleaf - It's kinda fun to check out. It will take about an hour at most, so it's a nice little trip for the afternoon next time you visit the Islands.

Applejuic3 - The Cayman Islands is a PERFECT honeymoon destination. One I'll definitely be looking into when the time comes around for me :) Have a great time!
